Tools That Measure & MARK

A good finished project starts with precision measurement and marking, otherwise known as layout.

A measuring instrument is a device for measuring a physical quantity. The ability to measure is fundamental to the sciences; including engineering, construction and other technical fields. It is also important to many everyday activities.

Since measurement always involves interaction between the object and the observer or observing instrument, there is always a varying degree of instrument error and measurement uncertainty.

Keep in mind you should always take your time and use the proper tools when marking your wood. You can only be as accurate as your layout. Or, as Mrs. Whitlow says, "Do not expect to cut a straight line, if it is drawn like Dr. Seuss."
